Cisco, a global technology leader, sought to introduce their new server blade to potential customers and interested buyers at trade shows. The challenge was to create an engaging, autonomous, and cost-effective solution that displayed the technology's complexity and capabilities without a sales representative's constant presence and without the actual server blade hardware. Speck Design was engaged to bring this vision to reality.
Our digital design team developed custom software with an intuitive UI/UX for the kiosk, enabling users to explore the server blade's features and technology interactively. The challenge was creating an engaging experience on a transparent display, leading to an immersive and memorable interaction.
Keeping Cisco's requirements in mind, we conceptualized a self-contained, jewel-case style kiosk. This interactive display was designed to be minimalistic and modern, focusing on showcasing the server blade's unique features and use-cases in an engaging way without distracting from the content.
The engineering challenge was integrating a transparent LCD display into the kiosk, creating an interactive interface for users. This included simplifying the system for easy setup and breakdown at trade shows, ensuring practical usability and engaging interaction with the virtual server blade.
To address cost concerns, our industrial design team crafted a 1:1 model of the new server blade. This full-scale replica accurately represented the physical attributes of the blade, allowing us to negate the expense of using actual hardware while maintaining a high level of detail and accuracy.
Our innovation strategy involved leveraging our multidisciplinary skills to create a unique and engaging learning experience for Cisco's audience. We aimed to transform the challenge of presenting complex technology into an innovative solution that captivated and informed potential customers and industry stakeholders.
The mechanical engineering aspect focused on ensuring the kiosk was not only a design marvel but also functionally robust. We made sure the kiosk could withstand the rigors of trade shows, with attention to detail in its construction and ease of use during setup and breakdown.
Our NPI & Product team managed the project's realization, overseeing the interactive kiosk's implementation and rollout at various trade shows. We ensured the concept, design, and engineering components came together seamlessly, meeting Cisco's objectives with our innovative and cost-effective solution.
