Speck Design was commissioned to create the DOT, a state-of-the-art POS system designed to integrate seamlessly into the unique ambiance of barbershops. The project aimed to enhance the customer transaction experience with a focus on brand coherence, technological innovation, and user-friendliness.
The DOT was designed with the barbershop's unique environment in mind, focusing on enhancing the operational flow of transactions while serving as an aesthetic extension of the barbershop's brand identity. By incorporating elements of precision and solidity, the system complements the warm, curated atmosphere of the barbershop. The design team chose materials, textures, and forms that resonate with traditional barbershop charm while infusing sleek, modern lines for contemporary efficiency.

Our mechanical engineering efforts focused on creating a product that was both durable and adaptable to the dynamic needs of a barbershop. Key to this was the development of a versatile swivel stand, capable of accommodating both portrait and landscape orientations, allowing barbers to adjust the POS according to their workspace. A detachable iPad case and an optional weighted base were engineered for ease of use and stability, ensuring the system could withstand the hustle of daily operations.
